Tips: Inline centrifugal duct fan working principle

An inline centrifugal duct fan operates based on centrifugal force to move air through ductwork. The fan consists of an impeller housed within a cylindrical casing. When the impeller rotates, it draws air into the center of the fan, or the “eye” of the impeller, through the inlet. The centrifugal force generated by the spinning impeller then accelerates the air outward toward the perimeter of the fan.

As the air is forced outward, it gains velocity and pressure, exiting the impeller at a 90-degree angle to the inlet flow. This high-pressure airflow is then directed into the duct system, allowing it to travel efficiently over long distances. The design ensures a steady and powerful airflow, which is essential for applications requiring consistent ventilation. Additionally, the enclosed design of the fan helps minimize noise and enhances the overall efficiency of the system by reducing energy losses typically associated with axial fans.
